I. INTRODUCTION
The second aspect in the tri dharma of higher education is community services. These community services are compulsory for every academic community, both linear with their expertise and interdisciplinary. The community services can be conducted at least once in every semester by emphasizing on the outcomes. The proposed theme should deal with contemporary problems faced by the community, whether in the local, national or global scale. Currently, the community desperately needs guidance in order to enforce the law, implement the rule of law and disseminate legal rules to solve existing problems in the society. Community services implemented by all academic community can be directed to the community concerned, by providing services through knowledge, expertise, and soft skills.
To facilitate the implementation of community services, the Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga through the Unit of Development, Research, Community Services and Scientific Publication (UP4I) allocates funds and provides writing guidelines for the proposals and reports writings.
II. CRITERIA OF COMMUNITY SERVICES
- The theme of the community services should be relevant to the problems within the community, whether local, national or global.
- The community services can be conducted around or outside East Java within Indonesian archipelago.
- The community services shall be carried out by the proposers and their entire team
III. FORM OF ACTIVITIES FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES
The forms of activities for 2017 community services include the following:
- Counseling
In this activity, team of lecturers utilizes their expertise to provide counseling for institutions/community groups on issues faced by the community. The aims of this community service are primarily for disseminating information, enhancing legal awareness, and building further cooperation to solve problems in the society. - Mentoring
The mentoring is not intended to provide counseling, but team is actively involved in solving community problems. The mentoring team sets the benchmark for the success of this activity based on the problem solving so as to enable pre- and post-mentoring evaluation. - COOPERATION WITH PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS
Community services should be conducted through cooperation with agencies or institutions in the community, such as local government or community institutions, or mass organizations and other non-governmental organizations.
